How Image Only Sites Can Rank Better In Google

Google in its recent video blog, shared some insights for improving image optimization for websites which utilizes images and photographs. Elaborating on the key issue, Matt Cuts, the veteran Google specialist, told that in the absence of anchor text for images, we can accommodate more and more information around the images. Such information can be included in the title, the name of the image, description about the image, the title of the webpage which includes this image and many more.

Another suggestion from Google is inclusion of a comments space, just below the images. As the comments keep on being added below the images, the keyword which describes the image is repeated which provides some good leverage so as to describe the image. If we take example for some popular photo sharing websites like Flicker.com, we can see that each photo showcased there has the comments sharing space.

Links, which are an important tool to improve search engine rankings, further assists the image optimization process. With more and more links pointing towards that image on your website, the ranking gets better. Google counts each incoming link to your website as a vote. More the vote, more are the chances of that website to rank higher in the search results.

Thus, even if the anchor text option is missing for images, we can always try out different techniques which can certainly assist in better search ranking for the images.
